This is a plant from a flask I bought in August 2010 labelled Polystachya spp. I am really pleased to have flowered it so soon. Anyone know what it might be? The pot is 7cm diameter and the flower just over 1cm.

Polystachyas are difficult to chase down, since they come from so many different places -both sides of the Atlantic, and right through to the Pacific. So it is no use looking in any of the National floras. And then, so many look much the same.
Unless you strike lucky, or ask Kew to have a look, I guess your label has to read "Polystachya sp."

Isobyl la Croix does know a lot about them, but I haven't seen her about at London Shows, since she got the sack from her job at the Orchid Review ( which she was very sore about − no wonder).
