I am told ( by my Orchid Soc) that next year’s show will be on Friday and Saturday with a preview on the Thursday ,( as last time I think).... but the new dates are April 11-12-13.
I rather think this is a month later than usual , and i don’t know why.
I’m curious – any ideas ?

The dates are correct. The reason for moving is that because the RHS has sold the hall to Westminster School the RHS can use it for shows only during school holidays.

Something to do with the RHS having sold/rented (?) the hall to a school nearby and as such the hall is no longer available in March.

But I m sure you ll get better insight from others who are more knowledgeable about the actual situation.

Kind regards,

The RHS seems to be an organisation which exists to make money by any possible expedient, it seems. What is the point of it owning its own halls, so that it can have shows whenever wanted, without going out looking and having to fit in with other events , if it then sells the halls with a right to use them very limited ?
I became so disenchanted with the RHS that I let my membership − which had gone on for best part of 50 years or perhaps more, lapse, so I suppose I am not in a position to complain about what they do.
I do feel free to observe that if they had managed affairs better when I was a member, then I would have remained one − and a few thousand others like me too, perhaps, in which a case they would not have needed to flog the family silver , to copy (almost) an expression used by a former Prime Minister, when we started the nonsense of selling Great Britain to the highest bidder, piece by piece, train by train, Water works by water works etc ( do you know Singapore owns Bournemouth Water supply ? ) which is a digression : or perhaps go to show that this financial shenanigans nonsense is a widespread a national obsession.

Sorry , old man ranting again − just switch me off, I'm past my sell by date.
