I have been put in charge of compiling Eric Christenson's book on

Maxillaria. I have his text, slides, and all his files. What seems to be

missing are any digital images he would have collected over the years. Eric
was very good about identifying pictures that were sent to him, and also
about giving his opinion about pictures he saw on the web.

I am asking anyone who had Eric identify a Maxillaria species by
photograph(and you still have the photograph) to contact me if you are
willing to let us use the photo in the book.

As I expect a large response, could you please, in your email, title the

email with the name of the species. It is not necessary to send the

picture in the email. Just let me know what you have and I will get back to
you. I am working thru the alphabet and I haven't completed A yet, but am

starting to collect the next letters now. I can't know if I will need your

photograph till I get to that part of the book, so please be patient. I am
hoping to complete this endeavor by early January 2012.

I also would like to announce that we( Dalton, Americo and I) have released
our book Orchids of Brazil- Oncidiinae I and it is available through our
website http://www.orchidstudium.com/orchidsofbrazil.html

Sitting next to each other in my orchid house are Sobralia rosea and Angreacum magdalena (?). The sobralia flowerhas a maximum life of 2 days but the Angreacum flower is about 2 months but I did not record the start date.
This made me wonder if the longest lasting orchid flower has been recorded. Any ideas?
Regards

I grew 5 different colours of Dendrobium cuthbertsonii and they lasted on average for about 6 months. What a beautiful orchid.

I once had a Phalaenopsis Pink Twilight that flowered, with the same flowers, for nearly three years. I took photos of a growing grandchild standing next to it to prove the point. The photos were unfortunately lost when my last computer gave up the ghost.
