Hello All,
My name is Murdo MacDonald, and I am 54 yrs young,Married with three children and two Grandchildren.
I am an absolute beginner at the plant growing genre, and I seem to be drawn to the Orchid species for some reason.
At this present moment in time I am in the process of trying to grow a variety called ACIDANTHERA...Peacock variety, and I would welcome any advice as to my beginners foray into this facinating subject.

Hello Murdo, it's always good to welcome a newcomer to the hobby :-)

I say this with a little trepidation, as I don't want to dent your
enthusiasm but I feel it is only fair to point out that Acidanthera,
although listed by some vendors as an orchid, is a variety of
Gladiolus. Very pretty, but to sell it as an orchid is misleading at
best.

Do you have any other (real) orchids? There are so many gorgeous ones
available it is hard to choose what to buy! I try to buy from orchid
nurseries, but can't always resist those in the supermarkets and
garden centres.

Kind regards,
